This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Maverick Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Fort Worth, TX.
Maverick Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Assistant Mechanic to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department.
The Assistant Mechanic supports the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment, utility vehicles, and related machinery to ensure reliable daily operations. This position works closely with the Equipment Manager and Golf Course Maintenance team to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. The role may also assist with select golf course maintenance tasks as operational needs require.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, small engines, and other turf equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues under supervision.
  • Sharpen and adjust reels, bedknives, blades, and cutting units.
  • Maintain accurate service records and parts inventory.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Transport equipment to and from maintenance areas or course locations as needed.
  • Assist with setup, cleanup, and special projects related to course operations.
  • Perform select greenkeeper-type duties on the golf course when needed, including mowing, bunker maintenance, hand watering, debris cleanup, cup changing, and detail work.
  • Support tournament and event preparation by helping ensure equipment readiness and course presentation.
  • Follow all club safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of gas, diesel, and small engine equipment preferred.
  • Experience with golf course or landscaping equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to safely use tools, lifts, grinders, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
