FlightSafety operates the world's largest fleet of advanced full-flight simulators and award-winning maintenance training at Learning Centers and training locations in the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom.
Purpose of Position
Responsible for developing sound/software for simulator systems. Application areas include real time simulation; simulation of aircraft systems, navigation, aircraft dynamics; simulator interoperability; simulation software integration with OEM software; simulator software system design; computer systems and information security. Intermediate Level; continuing development level. Performs more varied and difficult aspects of the job; may need guidance on job duties; apply learning to recommend options to address unusual situations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Create mixed reality software solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world.
  • Work closely with and integrate 3rd party headsets and other VR/AR/MR hardware and expand our training device feature sets and product lines.
  • The team is agile, test driven, and multi-disciplinary. The position incorporates all facets of software development from communication, requirement, research, design, development, testing, integration, peer review, documentation, maintenance, and end user support.

Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other applicable technical field; and two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience
2+ years of related experience in software engineering preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Design and test aircraft simulator sound software applications using C/C++
  • Perform 1/3 octave and narrow-band analysis of aircraft recordings for implementation in the software applications.
  • Create and mantian software and hardware documentation.
  • create and maintain 1/3 octave tests and perform tuning of the sound simulation to tolerances required by FAA/JAA.
  • Provide on-site support of the simulatior installation and certification efforts with virtual/augemented/mixed reality projects or technologies.
  • Algorithm development and object oriented design
