Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Emissions and Simulation Engineer with expertise in 0D/1D CFD modeling and emissions systems. In this role, you will support the development and validation of powertrain and aftertreatment systems through simulation, with a focus on tailpipe (ATS) and evaporative emissions. The ideal candidate will have around 3 years of hands-on experience using GT-Suite, Exothermia, and/or GT-xCHEM, and will work closely with our engineering team to drive innovation in emissions reduction and system performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, calibrate, and validate 0D/1D CFD models for internal combustion engines, aftertreatment systems, and evaporative emission systems using GT-Suite, Exothermia, and/or GT-xCHEM.
  • Perform simulations to analyze tailpipe emissions (NOx, CO, HC, PM) and evaporative emissions, supporting compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation results into powertrain design, calibration, and control strategies.
  • Support the development of aftertreatment system (ATS) models, including DOC, DPF, SCR, and ASC components.
  • Contribute to model-based calibration and optimization of engine and emissions control systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Stay updated with emerging simulation tools, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices in emissions engineering.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3 years of professional experience in 0D/1D CFD simulation and emissions analysis within the automotive or related industry.
  • Required Software Proficiency:
    • GT-Suite
    • Exothermia and/or GT-xCHEM
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Aftertreatment systems (ATS) modeling and performance evaluation
    • Evaporative emissions systems and modeling approaches
    • Powertrain simulation and calibration processes
  • Familiarity with emissions regulations (e.g., EPA, Euro standards) and certification processes.
  • Experience with model calibration, validation, and correlation with test data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Exposure to hybrid/electric vehicle powertrain simulation.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or other scripting tools for automation and data analysis.
  • Experience with 3D CFD tools (e.g., STAR-CCM+, CONVERGE) is a plus.
  • Understanding of control system development and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
