Job description

Title: Project Engineer

Location: Wabtec Freight  – Kansas City, MO

Job Description:

The Project Engineer is responsible for the technical/engineering of the assigned projects in terms of scope, timely delivery, quality, and compliance.  The Project Engineer will interface with Wabtec and local suppliers to execute assigned projects. The candidate should have a solid engineering background and proven experience with leading various manufacturing and assembly projects.  Additional experience with repair development and/or locomotive traction motor design a plus.

Essential Responsibilities:

-   Works within defined parameters to make decisions and apply concepts to issues of high complexity.

-   Provides direction and assistance to the engineering team in order to meet assigned objectives.

-   Has the ability to resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

-   Develops and fulfills the engineering planning for the assigned projects.

-   Attends/leads customer meetings (business and engineering toll gates, etc.).

-   Supports the advanced design and development of mechanical components and/or industrial processes.

-   Ensures high reliability and compliance with design/quality specifications by using mechanical creativity and engineering experience as well simulation based product development and design techniques.

Desired Skills:

-   Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.

-   Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.

-   Knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing processes.

-   Background involving mechanical testing and NDT inspection methods.

-   Experience with GD&T, general mfg processes, tooling and Six Sigma.

-   Knowledge of Excel or other Project Management tools.

Qualifications/Requirements:

A B.S. in Engineering or other technical discipline with associated skills and project management experience.
