Job Title: City Maintenance Worker (Entry-Level)

Location: City of Aberdeen Maintenance Shop - APG location

Company: City of Aberdeen

Job Type: Full Time

Salary: $20.45 / hourly

This position will be assigned to the City of Aberdeen Maintenance Shop on Aberdeen Proving Ground and will require a Tier 1 level Background Check, in addition to the standard pre-employment background check.

This position requires the applicant to have a CDL or the ability to get a CDL and to pass a DOT physical.

Job Summary:
The City Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain APG's infrastructure and public spaces. This position requires a knowledge of maintenance procedures, a commitment to safety, and a dedication to providing excellent service to the public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Concrete and asphalt finishing
  • Maintain city streets, sidewalks, and public areas by performing tasks such as sweeping, raking, and removing litter.
  • Repair and maintain city infrastructure such as street signs, traffic signals, and drainage systems.
  • Inspect and repair buildings and equipment.
  • Operate light and heavy machinery such as tractors, mowers, and trucks.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Use safety equipment and follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Work with other city departments and contractors to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with concrete and asphalt.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of basic repair and maintenance techniques
  • Ability to use light and heavy machinery
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver’s license
