Our client is a privately held, highly respected industrial supplier with over 80 years in business, serving the global energy and power generation markets including nuclear power, oil refining, gas and chemical processing, and U.S. military shipbuilding. With one of the largest and most comprehensive inventories in the United States and regional centers across the country, they are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Sales Assistant to support their sales team in Philadelphia.
This is an outstanding entry-level opportunity for someone looking to launch a career in industrial sales and supply chain. Previous Sales Assistants have been promoted into inside sales, quality, and other divisions within 1–1.5 years. If you are a strong communicator who is eager to learn, this role is built for you.
Job Responsibilities:
- Expedite critical orders by coordinating with mills, manufacturers, distributors, and warehouse teams to track order status and resolve delays
- Enter quotes and bid packages into the operating system and CRM with accuracy
- Manipulate and improve Excel bid packages using pivot tables and spreadsheet merging
- Break up and shop large bid packages across multiple vendors; send and track requests for quotes
- Set up freight logistics for critical orders including freight broker coordination and trucking arrangements
- Create customized customer-specific document packages including MTRs, packing slips, and invoices
- Conduct data entry for new customer details, credits, and order information into internal ERP and Excel
- Support inside and outside sales team members with daily administrative and sales support tasks
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders via phone and email
- Work across multiple teams — inside sales, outside sales, warehouse, and leadership — to ensure accurate and timely order completion
Requirements:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills — pivot tables, spreadsheet merging, and large data sets required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — professional phone presence is essential
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of urgency and accuracy
- Comfortable learning and navigating internal ERP and CRM systems
- Analytical mindset with good math skills and problem-solving ability
- Self-motivated, reliable, and professional — able to interact with anyone from warehouse staff to company ownership
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- Industry experience not required — eagerness to learn and strong soft skills are the priority
