Associate Technician

The Associate Technician is an entry-level role focused on the hands-on physical assembly of enterprise server, storage, and networking solutions within Curvature’s Operations team. This individual is an important part of the production floor, responsible for building and preparing hardware accurately and efficiently in accordance with work orders and Standard Operating Procedures. The Associate Technician is someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, follows direction well, and is eager to grow their technical knowledge and skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role works closely with more senior technicians and team leads, providing a strong foundation for a long-term career in enterprise IT infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing:

Hardware Assembly

  • Perform physical assembly of enterprise server and storage solutions in accordance with work orders, build sheets, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Install and seat components including processors (CPUs), memory (RAM/DIMMs), hard disk drives (HDDs), solid state drives (SSDs), power supply units (PSUs), network interface cards (NICs), HBAs, and riser cards into server chassis
  • Test networking transceivers
  • Install and seat networking components including Transceivers, Daughter cards, Line cards, enablement cards into routing and switching chassis
  • Assemble and rack storage arrays and enclosures, including drive population, controller installation, and cable management
  • Read and interpret work orders, build sheets, and hardware diagrams to ensure correct component placement and configuration prior to handoff
  • Perform basic hardware inspections to verify components are correctly seated, secured, and free of physical damage before passing to the next stage

Parts handling & Inventory

  • Leverage components and materials from inventory accurately in accordance with work order specifications, verifying part numbers and quantities before use
  • Handle all enterprise hardware with appropriate care, following electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety procedures and physical handling guidelines at all times
  • Notify team leads or senior technicians immediately when components are missing, incorrect, damaged, or in short supply

Workspace & Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation and shared floor space at all times, adhering to all operational and safety standards
  • Follow all safety protocols including ESD precautions, proper lifting techniques for heavy equipment, and hazardous material handling guidelines
  • Participate in weekly team huddles and communicate openly with team leads regarding progress, blockers, and work order status
  • Support a positive, team-first work environment by contributing reliably, communicating proactively, and helping teammates when needed

Learning & Development

  • Actively learn the fundamentals of enterprise server and storage hardware, including component identification, architecture basics, and assembly best practices
  • Follow guidance and instruction from Sr. Technicians and team leads, incorporating feedback to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Develop familiarity with Curvature’s SOPs, work order systems, and quality standards as part of building a strong operational foundation
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and a genuine interest in developing technical skills over time within the enterprise IT infrastructure space

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, hardware components, and physical assembly tasks
  • Ability to read and follow written work orders, build sheets, and procedural documentation accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to excellence
  • Ability to work in a team environment, take direction well, and communicate openly with leads and peers
  • Basic comfort with computer systems and the ability to learn inventory and logging software
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods during shifts

Bonus:

  • 1–2 years of experience in a hands-on technical, assembly, manufacturing, or warehouse environment; experience with IT hardware a plus but not required
  • CompTIA certification is a plus
  • Vocational training, technical coursework, or an Associate’s degree in a related field is a plus

Education:
