EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or Accredited General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a driving record insurable by the CCISD carrier
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in the Security Alarm trade with at least two (2) years in systems installation and in systems maintenance
  • Must currently hold an Alarm Installers or Electronic Access Control Installers License by a company holding a Class B - Security Contractor Company License by the Texas Department of Public Safety
  • Satisfactory performance in current employment or grade, demonstrating reliability and dependability through good attendance and performance of duties
  • Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check prior to starting employment.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal skills)
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, The Uniform Fire Code NFPA 72, International Fire Code and the ability to interpret blueprints and electronic schematics
  • Experience with various types of Security, Access Control, Commercial Camera, and Two-Way radio systems
  • MS Windows experience, proficiency in Word/Excel and systems software application

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE
  • Courses completed on Low Voltage Electronics
  • Programming and working knowledge of Bosch, Open Options and Avigilon systems.

Function
The Security Alarm Technician shall be responsible for the Install, Maintenance and programming of Security related systems and components district wide to include Security Alarm, Access Control, Vape Detection, and Surveillance Systems. They will make sure all systems are operational on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Installs, tests, configures, troubleshoots, and repairs security alarm components.
  • Performs both routine and preventative maintenance on electronic security equipment and devices.
  • Escorts and oversees vendors performing installations, maintenance, and repairs of security systems.
  • Assist on low voltage system installations and maintenance.
  • Maintains training of the most current technologies.
  • Consults with department Manager in planning and installing equipment
  • Assists with specialized projects to integrate, repair, or update systems.
  • Maintains documents and files related to duties.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
  • Lifts 10-40 pounds frequently, 40-75 pounds occasionally, more than 75 pounds infrequently, climbs ladders, works in high places, works in cramped quarters and under buildings, distinguishes primary colors, works in inclement weather (hot, cold, dry, and damp), walks, stands, kneels, stoops, bends, and squats for prolonged times.
  • Must be able to work with potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner and safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Normal shift is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each employee will be scheduled to work different shifts and be "on call" outside the normal shift. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and respond to after-hours emergencies
