Job description

The Environmental Planning department of Metric Engineering, Inc. is seeking an entry level/junior Environmental Scientist with 0-3 years of professional experience for a full-time position. Desire for location in Northwest Florida but will consider candidates statewide who have demonstrated work experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a B.S or similar degree in environmental science or related field. The position involves assisting with environmental reviews, GIS, and technical reporting to support Federally funded transportation, disaster, low-income housing, and community development projects. Salary and benefits are industry competitive and the position entails a hybrid work environment (mix of office, remote, and field).
Day-to-Day:
  • Working with Metric Team across multiple projects and tasks
  • GIS analysis and Data Collection
  • Environmental documentation and background research
  • Technical report writing/editing
  • Field surveys and site inspections
  • Maintaining strict regulatory records
  • Managing official correspondence and public notifications
Required Qualifications:
• Education: B.S. or B.A. degree in natural or environmental sciences or planning (or similar field)
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills
• Florida driver’s license
Preferred Capabilities:
• MS Office Suite
• Proficient with map data/ArcGIS
• Familiarity with NEPA and/or HUD Grant Programs
