CONTRACT: Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist

Temporary / Contract Position

Position Summary

The Temporary Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental programs. This role ensures compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and industry best practices while promoting a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.


Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
  • Identify risks and recommend corrective and preventive measures
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
  • Deliver or coordinate safety training sessions and toolbox talks
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulatory requirements
Environmental
  • Monitor environmental compliance (waste management, emissions, spill response, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining environmental permits and documentation
  • Support environmental audits and reporting requirements
  • Promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness across the organization
Compliance & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation, records, and reports
  • Track key safety metrics (incident rates, near misses, corrective actions)
  • Assist in preparing regulatory reports and internal dashboards
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Program Support
  • Support HSE initiatives, campaigns, and continuous improvement projects
  • Assist leadership and employees with HSE-related guidance
  • Participate in safety committees and meetings
  • Help foster a strong safety culture and employee engagement

QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of HSE experience (internships or entry-level roles acceptable for temporary assignments)
  • Experience in [manufacturing / construction / industrial / corporate environment – customize as needed]
Certifications (Preferred)
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • ASP, GSP, or CHST (preferred but not required)

Pay Details: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour
