Job description

This Controls Engineer role supports a machine-intensive, high-volume manufacturing environment and is part of a small, specialized engineering team responsible for deploying and supporting next-generation automation technologies.

The team will serve as the plant's Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for newly introduced Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and fleet management systems designed to improve material flow and production efficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on automation work, troubleshooting equipment on the production floor, and learning emerging Industry 4.0 technologies. Comprehensive training on AMR platforms and fleet management software will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment and support carry-over issues from previous shifts.
  • Assist maintenance and operations teams with equipment breakdowns, automation faults, and production interruptions.
  • Use Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs for troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
  • Review controls logic and identify root causes of equipment and automation issues.
  • Support and troubleshoot AMRs, including navigation, routing, communication, and material delivery systems.
  • Maintain and support AMR fleet management software and related systems.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and materials teams to maximize uptime and production performance.
  • Document troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support commissioning, startup, validation testing, and launch activities for AMRs and collaborative robots (Cobots).
  • Participate in capital projects involving robotics, automated material handling systems, and smart factory technologies.
  • Create and maintain automation documentation, operating procedures, and project records.
