What you'll do

The Registered Professional Nurse I, Ambulatory Care is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.

  • Provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.

  • Collects and records relevant patient health data accurately and works in collaboration with the care team to contribute to the plan of care.

  • Analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems and utilizes date to continuously meet care coordination needs.

  • Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient.

  • Evaluates patient response to plan of care and works in collaboration with the inter-professional team to make any needed adjustments.

  • Implements and records interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem.

  • Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attainment of identified goals and initiates or participates in patient outcome improvement activities.

  • Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards.

  • Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel.

  • Performs and documents Point of Care (POC) testing and quality control in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures.

  • Maintains and documents testing reagents/supplies and equipment according to established laboratory procedures.

  • Acts effectively as a group leader or preceptor when assigned.

  • Advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient’s autonomy, dignity and rights.

  • Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity.

  • Assures that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures, 100% of the time, as measured by random supervisory chart review.

  • Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.

  • Provides proof of current BLS validation to supervisor.

  • Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to supervisor.

  • Provides to supervisor /manager evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation.

  • Performs Similar or related duties as requested or directed.

What we need from you

Education:

  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required or...

  • Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or...

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred

All RN’s hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor’s prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN’s licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.

Experience:

  • New graduate, or less than 1 year of experience, required

License/ Certification:

  • NYS licensure as Registered Nurse or valid interim permit is required

  • BLS certification will be required within 6 months

  • Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
