Job Title: Med Surg/Tele RN - Infusion/Oncology
Profession: Registered Nurse

Must-Have:
Must have acute care experience and comfort with complex patients.
Prefer prior travel experience.
Experience with medication drips is necessary.
Description:
This position involves working in a medical-surgical/telemetry environment.
The unit houses 27 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 during the day/evening shift and 1:6 during the night shift.
Higher ratios may occur if staffing is short.
Common patient diagnoses include oncology/hematology, general medical issues, GI bleed, PE/DVT, sepsis, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, failure to thrive, and general weakness.
Oncology or chemotherapy experience is not required.
RNs are responsible for titrating various drips, including but not limited to insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, octreotide, and managing blood transfusions as necessary.
Centralized telemetry technicians handle monitoring and reading of strips, but RNs are expected to be telemetry aware.
A charge nurse and house supervisor are present on all shifts, and the charge nurse takes a modified patient assignment.
Travelers may be asked to take on charge duties if they feel comfortable, especially on night shifts.
Nurse aides are present in the unit with specific ratios during different shifts.
Respiratory therapy support is available 24/7 for multi-unit oversight.
Scheduling is managed by a scheduler who will work with travelers to accommodate scheduling requests but cannot guarantee block scheduling.
Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday coverage is also necessary.
Floating between medical-surgical units may occur, primarily for observer needs or assistance with tasks, typically in four-hour increments.
Scrub colors are flexible, but no logos from other health systems are permitted.
All clinicians must clock in and out of the facility.
