Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and evaluation of resident care within the nursing home facility. The RN provides clinical leadership, ensures quality and regulatory compliance, and delivers direct nursing care in accordance with physician orders and facility policies. This role serves as a professional resource to nursing staff, promotes resident-centered care, and supports a safe and therapeutic environment that enhances the well-being and dignity of each resident. The RN reports to the Director of Nursing.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Provides and supervises direct nursing care, including administering medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed.
  • Conducts comprehensive nursing assessments and contributes to individualized care plans for each resident.
  • Monitors residents' conditions and communicates significant changes to physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Aids and supports Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to ensure consistent and high-quality resident care.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, facility policies, and standards of nursing practice.
  • Participates in care conferences, quality assurance programs, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Educates residents and their families about care plans, medications, and ongoing health management.
  • Responds promptly to emergencies and provides appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough nursing documentation and reports.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Job Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong clinical knowledge of nursing principles, long-term care regulations, and geriatric health needs.
  • Proficiency in assessments, medication administration, and care planning.
  • In-depth understanding of infection control, safety standards, and resident rights.
  • Strong communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to handle complex or emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Commitment to compassionate, resident-centered care and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications & Education:
  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or related healthcare setting preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Candidate must demonstrate a moderate level of computer literacy in order to use and access our systems and tools within our facilities to complete online tasks and documentation.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact professionally with staff and residents.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and assisting residents with mobility and care.
  • Visual and auditory acuity required for assessing residents and monitoring equipment.
  • Physical and emotional stamina to respond effectively to resident needs and emergencies in a fast-paced environment.
