Graduate Rotation Program

The Graduate Rotation Program is focused on developing the future leaders of our business. Graduate Rotational Analysts will be involved with various types of projects based on the requirements from our business at the time. These projects include tackling everything from improving our understanding of market behaviors and economics to assessing the commercial implications of energy deregulation. The first year of your rotation will be in one of our core business departments as you build your foundational knowledge. Thereafter, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience and contribute to collaborative, cross-functional projects that are meaningful to the success of various facets of the business. As a Graduate Rotation Analyst, you will perform the same tasks as our entry level Analysts and have an opportunity to learn the methods, tasks, and objectives each of these groups complete in their day-to-day support of NRG's operations and business strategy.

 

Year 1 Risk Management Graduate Rotational Analyst Responsibilities include:

  • Production of Daily/Monthly P&L/Position reports
  • Provide insight into positions and risk of the portfolio
  • Validate end of day results in the risk systems
  • Leverage problem solving and analytical skills to enhance and automate numerous risk processes
  • Collaborate effectively within the Risk Management team and other departments on issues/projects
  • Support reporting requests from NRG's internal and external auditors
  • Work closely with IT on risk system improvements
  • Ad hoc requests for trading/management

Year 2 (M&A) - Financial Analyst

Job Summary: 

Key responsibilities will include evaluation of potential transactions, financial modeling, PowerPoint presentations to senior management, strategic research and competitive analysis, as well as other responsibilities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical support on a variety of M&A transactions, strategy projects and venture capital investments.
  • Develop, maintain and/or review complex financial models (including valuation and sensitivity analyses) to support decision making for investments and M&A activities.
  • Ensure that all assumptions and modeling techniques are appropriate and reasonable and confirm that model accurately reflects the terms and conditions contained in key project documentation.
  • Work closely with business units, tax, accounting, various technical teams and advisors to prepare detailed forecast of profit and loss, cash flows and balance sheet for acquisition or investment targets.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, be able to assess implications for NRG and communicate salient points to the team and management as needed.
  • Assist in determination of key value drivers of NRG's corporate valuation.
  • Assist in evaluation of a variety of financial structures necessary to support contemplated transactions.
  • Prepare recommendations to be presented to senior management.
  • Coordinate and manage due diligence for contemplated transactions.
  • Assist in providing data for NRG earnings releases and other corporate functions, such as meetings of the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
  • Create and maintain reports summarizing the ongoing performance of venture capital portfolio and strategic investments.
  • Assist in providing regular updates of key corporate valuation metrics including performing financial analysis to determine present and future financial performance.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and create reports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree discipline: Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science
  • Must have graduated no longer than 6 months from program start
  • Must have a 3.3 or higher GPA
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis without sponsorship

  • Based on placement and business needs, the schedule of your work week could be a hybrid work schedule: a combination of remote work and in-office per team needs

The base hourly range for this position is: $20 - $70. The base hourly range above represents the low and high end of the hourly range for this position. Actual hourly rates will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
