Position Summary / Job Purpose

The Reinsurance Analyst is an entry-level role designed for a recent graduate interested in building a career in insurance and reinsurance. This position supports the underwriting and reinsurance teams through data extraction, data analytics, reporting, and Excel-based analysis. The role provides exposure to reinsurance structures, broker interactions, and contract documentation processes while developing foundational technical and analytical skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Reinsurance & Underwriting Support

  • Assist with preparation of materials for reinsurance renewals and placements (e.g., data packs, summaries, exhibits).
  • Support tracking of facultative and treaty placements, including documentation and data entry.
  • Help review incoming broker requests and support the team with data needed for timely responses.

Process & Operational Support

  • Support documentation and tracking of reinsurance contracts and placements.
  • Assist with data entry into reinsurance systems and maintain data integrity.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth workflow and data consistency.

Data Extraction & Reporting

  • Extract and compile data from internal systems related to premium, losses, exposures, and reinsurance placements.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports to support underwriting, reinsurance, and finance teams.
  • Validate and reconcile data sets to ensure completeness and accuracy across systems.

Data Analytics & Insights

  • Perform basic to intermediate data analysis to support decision-making around reinsurance placements and portfolio performance.
  • Assist in analyzing trends in premium, loss ratios, and exposure concentrations.
  • Support preparation of data summaries used in treaty negotiations and broker submissions.

Excel & Data Management

  • Build and maintain Excel models, including use of:
    • Pivot tables
    • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
    • Basic formulas and data manipulation
  • Organize and maintain structured datasets to support reporting and analytics.
  • Assist in improving reporting efficiency through standard templates and automation.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (Finance, Risk Management, Mathematics, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field preferred)
  • 0-2 years of experience (e.g., internships, co-ops, or entry-level role)
  • Strong academic background with exposure to data analysis, finance, or insurance concepts preferred

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000.00-75,000.00 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only.
