About This Role
Old Mission, a global trading firm, is looking for a Co-Op student to join our Compliance Team in Chicago, IL (15-25 hours/week, flexible). You'll work as a compliance generalist, supporting surveillance, research, and administrative work across the Firm's compliance program.
Beyond day-to-day tasks and project work, you'll get direct mentorship from senior Compliance team members and exposure to our Operations and Risk teams giving you a real, ground-level view of how compliance functions inside a large trading firm.
This is a term-renewable position with potential for full-time hire.
What You'll Do
  • Research new trading initiatives to help the Compliance Team map out a compliant path forward
  • Work with external databases including FINRA's Central Registration Depository (CRD) and My Compliance Office
  • Support daily surveillance reviews of the Firm's options, futures, and equity trading activity
  • Help manage critical daily functions like CAT (Consolidated Audit Trail) reporting and exchange symbol registrations
  • Assist in reviewing existing compliance practices against regulatory requirements and industry best practices

What We're Looking For
  • Rising senior based in Chicago, studying business, finance, economics, or a related field
  • Interested in a long-term career in Compliance, Risk, or Operations at a trading firm
  • Able to balance coursework with work obligations
  • Some familiarity with large data sets and programming languages
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of exchange/OTC trading and market making
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Works well both independently and on a team
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office

Nice to Have
  • Completed the SIE (Securities Industry Essentials) exam
  • Prior internship experience in the industry
  • Experience with Python or SQL

Pay Range
$30/hr. ($62,400 annually based on a 40-hour work week). Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications relative to role requirements. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and Illinois state wage and hour law.
