What is an Entry Level Risk Adjustment Coder job?
An Entry Level Risk Adjustment Coder reviews medical records to identify and assign accurate diagnosis codes for risk adjustment purposes. Their work ensures healthcare organizations receive appropriate reimbursement based on patient health conditions. They typically use ICD-10-CM codes and follow guidelines from CMS and other regulatory bodies. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, and an understanding of risk adjustment models. Entry-level coders may work in various healthcare settings, including insurance companies, hospitals, or coding firms.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Entry Level Risk Adjustment Coder position, and why are they important?
To thrive as an Entry Level Risk Adjustment Coder, you need a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, typically supported by completion of a coding training program or relevant coursework. Familiarity with coding software, electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and coding certification such as CPC or CRC is often preferred. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role. These skills and qualifications ensure the accurate coding of diagnoses for risk adjustment, compliance with regulations, and contribute to optimal healthcare reimbursement.
What does a typical workday look like for an entry level risk adjustment coder?
A typical day for an entry level risk adjustment coder involves reviewing patient medical records to identify and assign appropriate diagnostic codes based on clinical documentation. You’ll use specialized coding software and electronic health record systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal guidelines. Collaboration with senior coders, team leads, and occasionally clinicians is common when clarification or additional documentation is needed. Most entry level coders work in an office or remote environment and spend much of their day analyzing records, updating databases, and participating in training sessions to stay current on coding updates.

Job description
Marsh Corporate
Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Marsh. This role will be based in Louisville. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
We are seeking an entry-level Public Cloud Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our cloud infrastructure across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This role is ideal for a recent college graduate with foundational cloud knowledge and a strong desire to grow technical skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment. You will help maintain and operate public cloud environments, learn best practices for secure and reliable cloud operations, and work closely with experienced engineers on day-to-day cloud tasks and projects.
We will count on you to:
- Deploy, configure, and manage cloud resources (compute, storage, networking, databases) across AWS, Azure, and OCI while supporting existing on-prem Nutanix and VMware Horizon VDI environments.
- Monitor cloud health, performance, and utilization; respond to routine alerts, escalate incidents, and participate in a rotating weekly on-call schedule.
- Configure and secure storage (e.g., Amazon S3) with encryption, versioning, lifecycle rules, and bucket policies; implement IAM basics and adhere to security and compliance controls.
- Support migration and upgrade tasks alongside senior engineers and assist application deployments and integrations with development, operations, and security teams.
- Contribute to cost-optimization efforts and ongoing performance tuning to improve efficiency and reduce spend.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations and procedures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for cloud initiatives and incident response.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field - or equivalent practical experience - with a strong foundation in cloud concepts (compute, storage, networking, IAM) and physical datacenter fundamentals (server hardware, storage, networking).
- Working knowledge of cloud networking fundamentals (VPCs/VNETs, subnets, security groups, firewalls, DNS) and comfort operating in both Windows and Linux server environments.
- Basic scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, or Shell) and exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code concepts for automating deployments and configuration.
- Strong problem-solving ability, quick learner, and able to troubleshoot technical issues across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
What makes you stand out:
- Internship or experience working with cloud platforms.
- Entry-level cloud certification such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. CloudWatch) and basic log analysis.
- Interest in pursuing further technical certification and career growth within cloud engineering.
Why join our team:
- We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
- We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have an impact on colleagues, clients and communities.
- Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
