Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to join our growing engineering team. MFC is a recognized designer, developer, and manufacturer of precision engagement aerospace and defense systems for the U.S. and allied militaries.
This role offers an excellent working environment with a mix of cutting-edge design, hands-on laboratory testing, and product development. You will work with and learn from industry-leading RF and microwave design professionals in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
What You Will Be Doing
The Senior RF Engineer will serve as a key technical contributor on one or more defense programs, supporting the design, development, analysis, and test of advanced RF systems and subsystems. Responsibilities may include:
• Leading and contributing to the design, development, and implementation of RF and RADAR systems, including signal processing algorithm development and high-fidelity simulation environments
• Conducting RF simulation analysis, antenna test data analysis, and captive flight test performance data analysis to evaluate sensor and system performance
• Developing and optimizing signal processing algorithms for RF applications such as RADAR, wireless communications, and software defined radios (SDR)
• Using MATLAB, Python, and C++ for tool development, scripting, simulation, data analysis, and code review
• Performing RF requirements analyses, executing trade studies, and providing data-driven recommendations during design reviews
• Collaborating with cross-functional and multi-company teams, interfacing with suppliers, partners, and customers to balance competing priorities
• Developing and maintaining technical documentation, analysis packages, validation reports, and lessons-learned documentation
• Managing version-controlled repositories (e.g., GitLab), creating merge requests, and documenting changes
• Preparing status briefs for program leadership and partner contractors, highlighting analysis findings and risk items

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in RF engineering or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- RF or microwave circuit design, test, and troubleshooting at the CCA level
- RF simulation at the system level (e.g., SystemVue, AWR VSS), circuit level (e.g., ADS, Microwave Office), and/or full-wave level (e.g., CST, HFSS)
- RF sensor data analysis, signal processing, or RADAR systems engineering
- Digital signal processing (DSP) techniques for RF applications (RADAR, wireless communications, SDR)
- EMI/EMC requirements development, E3 control plans, and MIL-STD-461/464 test execution
Must have experience with the following:
• Proficiency in MATLAB (tool development, scripting, simulation, and analysis)
• Understanding of antenna theory, RF front-end architectures, signal and digital processing, and sensing modalities
• Experience with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, oscilloscopes)
• Must be a US Citizen; must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Desired skills
• Defense or Aerospace industry experience; previous missile or defense program experience
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences and work across multiple functions
• Strong mathematics skills in complex arithmetic, linear algebra, and probability & statistics
• Strong programming abilities in Python and/or C++; familiarity with data handling libraries (NumPy, pandas, etc.)
• Hardware prototyping experience with software defined radios (e.g., Ettus USRP) or RADAR systems
• Experience developing real-time signal processing algorithms in programmable logic (Simulink, HDL Coder, System Generator, Model Composer)
• Understanding of RFSoC architectures and embedded systems targeting
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) test setups and exposure to flight, HWIL, and high-fidelity simulation data environments
• Experience with version control tools (GitLab branching, CI/CD, merge request workflows)
• Familiarity with algorithm design including CFAR/detection, False Alarm Rate, waveform/PRF selection, Kalman filters, and optimization
• Experience with compact ranges (anechoic/RF chambers) and RF testing
• Knowledge of RF circuit design impairments and fixed-point data types
• Proactive problem solver with a detail-oriented and growth mindset; aptitude for learning on the job
• Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $101,000 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
