Position Overview

  • The Project Engineer position is an entry level opening in the Eastern Division - Columbus, Ohio.
  • Project assignments are in the Midwest and require moderate to extensive overnight travel to project work sites in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
  • The work environment is on an active construction site from the professional facilities of Ben Hur's project field office.
  • The project engineer reports to project management and assists members of Ben Hur's site team.
  • Opportunities for career advancement are expected as the employee gains knowledge and experience.
  • A Project Engineer shall, as directed, support any or all of the aforementioned positions.

What You'll Do

  • The project engineer assists with maintaining the project field office oepration and organization.
  • Become familiar with the project plans and specifications for Ben Hur's scope of work.
  • Perform field observations, trouble shoot problems, assist with field measurements and data compilation, maintain project records, logs, project drawings and documents.
  • Assist with project status documentation, collection, and reporting of job costs.
  • Become familiar with the erection plans, safety plan, schedule, and quality control and inspection aspects of the project.

Qualifications

  • Will have completed or be in the final year of an academic degree program in engineering, technology sciences, construction management or equivalent with emphasis on STEM.
  • Has the ability to work as part of a team with initiative-taker attributes to manage, complete, and meet expectations and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Construction documents are the basis of the work. The ability to understand communicate with same is required as a function of the construction process.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to accuracy, details, and project deadlines.
  • Expected technology utilization tools are laptop computers and tablets loaded with Microsoft Office, scheduling and drawing software.
  • The employee will be provided specific safety education and training as any entry level position.
