Job description

BHI Energy is searching for an Estimator ll  for a 1+ year contract assignment on behalf of our client.  

This is an entry level position into the exciting industry of Renewable Energy Engineering Procurement and Construction may be the opportunity for you.  This position supports the estimating and design of Wind Farm and Solar Energy Projects for our client, the industry leader in renewable energy. 

Position requires strong technical, problem solving, critical thinking, and project management skills to work with cross functional teams who are involved in project development, risk analysis, planning and execution. 

This position will report to the estimating manager and will support multiple projects. Intermittent Travel may be required.

Job Responsibilities:

This position has the single point accountability responsible for the preparation of estimates for Renewable Energy projects. Coordination with early-stage project management, supply chain, project controls, engineering, and construction supervision to define project parameters, influence project designs and perform insightful analysis on historical, current and future cost information.

  • Basic understanding of construction management principles including scheduling, estimating and means and methods.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles including civil, structural, electrical and mechanical
  • Ensures estimating templates are updated and processed in a timely manner in the appropriate information systems for reporting and tracking purposes including summary of construction process.
  • Establishes and maintains highly effective relationships with the customer and internal partners.
  • Makes efficient, quality, data driven decisions that set the direction for the project.
  • Understands wind turbine and solar project technology and basic work practices to help drive efficient models that drive customer satisfaction.
  • Inspects current and historical project designs, drawings and specifications to ensure projects are evaluated for cost savings measures and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant corporate policies and programs such as safety, documentation, and employee training.

Qualifications / Education / Experience:

 

Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Science or Engineering

  • Must have at least 2 years' experience with construction.
  • Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able work independently.
  • Basic understanding of construction management principles including scheduling, estimating and means and methods.
