Job description

Job Summary

The Application Analyst - Pharmacist is primarily responsible for the system build, testing, validation, and ongoing support of assigned electronic health record (EHR) applications. This role requires acquiring in-depth knowledge of software functionality and clinical workflows. Working collaboratively with departmental representatives and interdisciplinary teams, you will review future-state workflows and build system solutions to support optimal clinical and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Build & Validation: Participate in application design, build, validation, and advanced design sessions. Translate analyzed department needs into functional system designs.
  • Workflow Development: Collaborate with department representatives to design and implement efficient future-state workflows.
  • Testing & Documentation: Participate in Epic testing phases, document test results, and maintain comprehensive system documentation for ongoing support.
  • Deployment & Support: Support end-users onsite during go-live events, provide scheduled on-call support, and review/test new builds and releases prior to production implementation.
  • Optimization: Continuous evaluation of the system to identify potential enhancement needs.

Decision Making & Relationships

  • Autonomy: Exercises independent judgment in selecting solutions from diversified alternatives, subject to review in the final stages.
  • Leadership: Coordinates and leads activities of peers performing similar work (non-supervisory).
  • Collaboration: Works frequently with patients, internal/external customers, healthcare professionals, and leadership at the Director level or above.

Position Requirements

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy OR a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required: Current licensure by the State Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacist or Doctor of Pharmacy.
  • Required: Ability to successfully complete and maintain Epic certification in assigned application module(s).

Experience & Skills

  • Experience: 0–6 months of related experience (entry-level candidates welcome).
  • Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency with the analytical ability to solve both business and technical problems.
  • Time Management: Ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary teams.

Special Job Dimensions

  • Ability to travel as required for Epic certification training.
  • Ability to travel to remote work sites as needed.
