What are some common challenges faced in entry level remote jobs, and how can I prepare for them?

Entry level remote positions often come with challenges such as managing time effectively without direct supervision, staying motivated, and communicating clearly with team members across different locations. To prepare, it's helpful to establish a dedicated workspace, set specific daily goals, and use collaboration tools like Slack or Zoom to stay connected with colleagues. Being proactive in asking questions and seeking feedback also helps build relationships and ensures you're on the right track.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an entry level remote job?

To excel in an entry-level remote job, you typically need basic computer literacy, strong written communication abilities, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Self-motivation, time management, and proactive problem-solving are crucial soft skills for remote work success. These competencies enable you to stay productive and connected while independently meeting job expectations from a remote environment.

Entry level remote jobs often provide on-the-job training and opportunities for growth within the company. • Participate in training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Required Qualifications

  • Field surveying experience involving utility poles or distribution infrastructure.
  • Interest in learning and growing within the utility and engineering industry.
  • Entry-level candidates with make-ready analysis exposure and strong technical aptitude are encouraged to apply.
Work Environment
  • Initial training and onboarding will be conducted in-office.
  • Once established in the role, employees typically work in a hybrid schedule, with up to two remote workdays per week.
  • Fully remote opportunities may be available for experienced designers who can work independently.
  • Field-focused team members will regularly travel throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut using company-provided vehicles to survey utility poles and distribution infrastructure.
