What does an entry level remote frontend developer do?

An Entry Level Remote Frontend Developer is responsible for building and maintaining the user interface of websites or web applications, usually working with technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Job description

About the role
As a QA Engineer on our team, you'll test both backend API services and frontend web clients through a mix of automation and manual testing. You'll help us continue developing our CI/CD capabilities and pioneer strategies for reducing manual testing load. For us, "quality" means attention to detail, correctness, and strong error handling and recovery. You'll be embedded within a fully remote engineering team working on an e-commerce platform, working closely with developers to shape our testing strategy. We're open to candidates from mid-level through senior - the key trait we're looking for is someone who takes initiative to identify gaps and build solutions rather than waiting to be told what to test.
Responsibilities
  • Design and build automated test suites for APIs and backend services (functional, regression, integration)
  • Design and build browser automation tests for frontend client applications (e.g., using Playwright or Cypress)
  • Work with engineers to define test strategy and acceptance criteria before features ship
  • Propose and drive adoption of new testing practices and tooling, not just executing existing plans
  • Improve test coverage and reduce manual QA load over time through CI/CD improvements
  • Collaborate closely with developers to identify edge cases and failure modes early in the development cycle
  • Generate test plans based on ticket acceptance criteria
  • Verify successful production releases

Requirements
  • Must have:
    • Experience writing automated tests for both backend services and frontend web applications, including hands-on experience with a browser automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium)
    • Comfort reading and writing code for Node/JS/TS applications
    • Strong debugging and root-cause investigation skills
    • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
    • Willingness to use AI tooling
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience using AI tools for test generation, code review, or debugging workflows
    • Security testing exposure
    • Experience with test case management software (Testmo, TestRail, etc)

Benefits
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Work From Home
