Schochet is currently accepting resumes for a Compliance Assistant.
Schochet is a full-service real estate development and management company. We are currently accepting resumes for a Compliance Assistant at Hamilton Wade Douglas House. The Schochet Companies is an AMO designation (Accredited Management Organization) awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management. Hamilton Wade Douglas House is an Elderly apartment community located in Brockton, MA. Come join a winning team!
Duties include but are not limited to:
  1. Perform a range of administrative and customer service functions in accordance with the Compliance department.
  2. Assist with tracking and reviewing files from property as assigned in keeping with time sensitive occupancy requirements
  3. Assist staff with file processing in accordance with company processing guidelines, process income certifications/recertifications for multiple affordable housing programs and update Yardi database.
  4. Assist residents in completing, understanding and signing all documents related to housing assistance to ensure compliance with program rules.
  5. Assist with collecting all necessary documents for tenant files. Files must follow HUD and Federal Management standards. Ensure all necessary documents are in tenant files, up-to-date and in the correct order. Organize current files and purge old documentation from files in accordance to rules and procedures as directed by supervisory staff.
  6. Address tenant questions and issues as they arise. Tenants may visit or call the Compliance Assistant with questions. Assist tenants with copies, leases, and rent questions as necessary.
  7. Answer phone questions regarding the properties wait list and application questions.
  8. Listen to and document tenant complaints regarding a variety of tenant issues including roommate and overcrowding concerns.
  9. Other duties as assigned property management staff.
  10. Bilingual in Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole or Spanish a plus.

Professional certification in this field is necessary within a few months of beginning this position. Excellent math skills are needed to calculate income and rent. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service, attention to detail, organization and follow through skills are also required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. This position is 5 days in person, onsite.
