Ready Mixed Concrete, a NEBCO Company, operates four Ready Mixed plants in Lincoln, Nebraska and 17 plants throughout southeast and central Nebraska, including Auburn, Aurora, Beatrice, Central City, Crete, Fairbury, Falls City, Hebron, Kearney, Nebraska City, Palmyra, Silver Creek, Strang, St. Paul, Syracuse, Tecumseh and York.

Position Summary

Drives a transit mixer truck equipped with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix and other related construction products to job sites. $2500 Hiring Bonus!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Abiding by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Daily performing a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and the truck to assure a safe vehicle. Documenting any maintenance that may be required.

Back or drive truck under loading hopper, prepare mixer to receive concrete. Following guidelines and instructions by dispatch personnel.

Driving truck to designated job site for unloading. Must distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions at the job site, in traffic and throughout plant areas.

Assembling concrete chute and attaching chute to the back of the truck. Controlling appropriate levers on truck to discharge concrete according to specifications from the contractor into a wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured with concrete.

If appropriate, washing out truck at the job site and replacing chute on truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck.

Spraying surfaces of truck with protective compound to prevent adhering of concrete as needed.

Maintaining a safe vehicle by monitoring tire pressures and ensuring all required lights and mirrors are operational and coordinating needed repairs with the Fleet Garage.

When the workload is light, assisting other areas--repair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean-up, pallet repair and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements and Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Must have a valid Class B CDL.

Must have a valid NE driver's license and able to meet insurability requirements of the company insurance program.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, Trakit GPS device, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.

Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements and carry a physical exam card, which is to be kept current according to DOT guidelines.

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season. Must be able to work late or irregular hours.

Working Conditions

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to shoulder height. Must be able to lift, place and set warehouse products as required during load preparation, loading and unloading. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily and fumes or other possible airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high and precarious places which require the agility to maintain balance.

Condition of Employment

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with fit for employment screening (if required) are conditions of employment.
