Job description

We are seeking a reliable, motivated Handyman Helper to join our growing team. In this role, you will work directly alongside a lead handyman, assisting with residential and commercial repairs, maintenance, and installations. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone eager to learn the trades, develop practical technical skills, and work in a fast-paced environment.


Core Duties and Responsibilities:


Jobsite Preparation & Cleanup

  • Load and unload tools, equipment, and building materials from the service vehicle daily.
  • Set up ladders, scaffolding, drop cloths, and protective barriers before work begins.
  • Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, vacuuming, and clearing debris throughout the day.
  • Dispose of waste materials and old fixtures according to company and safety guidelines.


Assistance with Repairs & Installations

  • Hold materials or steady components while the lead handyman fastens, cuts, or measures them.
  • Perform basic carpentry tasks like sanding wood, patching small drywall holes, and caulking gaps.
  • Assist with installations, including mounting TVs, hanging blinds, assembling furniture, and putting up shelving.
  • Support basic trade work under close supervision, such as passing tools for minor plumbing or electrical tasks.


Tool & Inventory Management

  • Quickly retrieve specific tools and hardware from the truck to keep the job moving efficiently.
  • Clean and organize hand tools, power tools, and the service vehicle at the end of every shift.
  • Track supply levels and alert the lead handyman when screws, paint, or materials run low.


Customer Service & Safety

  • Greet clients professionally and maintain a polite, respectful demeanor while working in their spaces.
  • Follow safety protocols by consistently wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and steel-toe boots.


Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Basic familiarity with hand tools and power tools is a plus, but we will train the right candidate.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods.
  • Transportation: Valid driver's license and a reliable way to get to work or designated meeting spots.
