Railserve is hiring dependable and safety-focused Track Laborers in Midland, MI to support the maintenance, repair, and inspection of railroad track infrastructure within an active industrial rail environment. This is a full-time, hands-on role critical to maintaining safe and reliable rail operations for our customers.

Job Description
Track Laborers are responsible for maintaining railroad track infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient rail operations. This role supports track inspection, repair, and maintenance activities while working closely with site operations and maintenance personnel.
Employees work in an active industrial environment performing track maintenance duties such as replacing ties, driving spikes, maintaining switches, checking track alignment, and performing general track repairs. This position requires the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment while adhering to company safety standards and operating procedures.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Previous railroad or construction experience is helpful but not required for candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Schedule
• Fixed schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
• Monday through Friday
• Overtime may be required based on operational needs
Compensation
$18.00 - $23.00 per hour based on experience
Duties
• Drive spikes and secure track components
• Move, install, and replace railroad cross ties
• Adjust, inspect, and maintain track switches
• Lubricate switches and track components
• Tighten track bolts and hardware
• Check track gauge and alignment
• Check cross level and track conditions
• Assist with track repairs and maintenance projects
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
• Inspect work areas for safety hazards and report concerns
• Wear required personal protective equipment at all times
• Follow company operating procedures and safety requirements
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required
• Reliable transportation required
• Strong attendance and dependability required
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain and active rail infrastructure
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle heavy equipment and materials
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities safely and effectively
• Ability to follow safety rules, operating procedures, and instructions
• Ability to participate in Railserve's pre-employment screening process
• Military experience is a plus
