Job description

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Summary
Under indirect supervision, performs duties related to the acquisition, processing, submission, and archiving of diagnostic images. Responsible for ensuring patient safety, comfort, and care while in the diagnostic imaging department.
Schedule
Full-time position, Monday through Friday with variable shifts (e.g., between 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM), including occasional weekend rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
  • Prepare patients for procedures (e.g., explaining procedures, obtaining consent, assisting with positioning and gowning)
  • Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality at all times
  • Assist patients with mobility and lifting when necessary
  • Remain calm and responsive in emergency situations
Imaging Procedures
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures in accordance with established protocols
  • Ensure proper patient identification and validation in imaging systems
  • Upload and verify all procedures in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Apply appropriate radiation protection measures (e.g., shielding when applicable)
Collaboration & Communication
  • Assist physicians during imaging procedures as needed
  • Act as a liaison between referring physicians, radiologists, and patients
  • Communicate results as directed (e.g., generating stat reports, coordinating urgent findings)
  • Answer phone calls and coordinate with referring offices for orders and information
Administrative Duties
  • Accurately document patient and procedure information in electronic medical records
  • Start and complete procedures within the system
  • Prepare daily schedules and manage workflow
  • Scan, retrieve, and manage imaging records, films, and CDs as required
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
  • Clean and disinfect imaging rooms and equipment between patients in accordance with safety standards
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and linens
  • Sterilize and maintain procedural instruments and equipment
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of imaging materials
Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all applicable health and safety regulations (including infection control and bloodborne pathogen standards)
  • Maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures
Training & Support
  • Assist in training and mentoring students or new staff as needed
Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Certification & Licensure
  • Registered or registry-eligible with a recognized radiologic technologist certification body (e.g., ARRT or equivalent)
  • Current CPR certification
