Job description

Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and supplies, and following specialized techniques, policies and procedures for the multimodal (Cath/EP, Vascular, Neurovascular and Radiology) interventional procedures. Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. This includes providing service excellence by creating a great "First Impression" by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer groups including patients, families/friends, physicians, staff and support department personnel. Adheres to the "I Am YNHH" service excellence pledge and promotes a positive work environment.

Responsibilities
- 1. Proficient at using all equipment using during procedures.
- 1.1 Properly sets up and checks fluoroscopic and other ancillary equipment so it is ready to function at the beginning of the procedure.
- 2. Knowledgable all Information systems used in the section.
- 2.1 Prior to procedure, checks patient identification per YNHH policy and Accurately records demographic information.
- 3. Provides appropriate equipment and supplies during procedures.
- 3.1 Provides equipment and supplies for all cases in a timely manner.
- 4. Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.
- 4.1 Is receptive to teaching new technologists by assisting with their training and orientation, and student technologists by allowing them the opportunity for "hands on" experience, as observed by the supervisor and input provided from these students.
- 5. Performs various record keeping functions in order to maintain integrity and completeness of patient record and billing.
- 5.1 Accurately enters patient prior to produres.
- 6. Provides quality care to all patients.
- 6.1 Introduces themselves by and other staff to the patient before the exam begins.
- 7. Utilizes proper safety measures during procedures for all people present in the room to ensure minimum physical risk for patients and staff.
- 7.1 Ensures that all staff in procedure room are wearing appropriate radiation protection equipment during procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Completion of formal Radiology Technology education approved by the A.M.A. ARRT Registered. AS Degree required.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine Interventional imaging techniques and /or experience in complex diagnostic studies. Minimum of 12 months experience as a Radiologic Technologist required. Interventional procedure and sterile technique preferred.Hospital Experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred. OR imaging experience preferred.
LICENSURE
ARRT, CT Radiographer state license required. CPR and basic EKG recognition skills required. Annual required continuing education (i.e. stroke and licensure requirements).
SPECIAL SKILLS
Must have the ability to work closely with patients, physicians, nurses, techs and other team members and personnel. Must have extensive anatomical knowledge. Exceptional communication skills and ability to work on an interdisciplinary team required. Must be able to learn and new equipment and procedures and troubleshoot equipment issues. Must maintain an awareness of all radiation and patient safety issues involved in all procedures. Ability to be flexible to meet with changing needs of the health care environment and YNHHS required. Must be knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
On call required; must meet YNHH policy for arriving to Department within 30 minutes of call. Must be able to wear lead apron during standing position for prolonged periods of time. May be exposed to infectious diseases or hazardous material. Standing and walking most of the day. Must have the ability to hear and observe all surroundings within the department and procedures and have manual dexterity to perform job responsiblities and assist with patient moves and transfers.
