Job description

Allient Inc. is currently in growth mode and seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Salem, Oregon!

The Junior Mechanical Engineer will be a part of the company’s core Engineering team! We’re looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to work directly alongside an experienced mechanical engineer in a hands-on product development environment. This isn’t a large corporate engineering role where you’ll spend months doing one small task. You’ll be involved in every phase of the engineering process—from concept through manufacturing. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, wants to learn quickly, and is excited to take on increasing responsibility. Responsibilities:

  • Create and modify 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks
  • Assist with product design and mechanical assemblies
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation
  • Support prototype builds and testing
  • Work with machine shops and manufacturing partners
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions
  • Help troubleshoot manufacturing and assembly issues
  • Learn practical engineering methods used in real-world product development

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or graduating within the next few months)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to ask questions and learn
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Experience with machining or fabrication
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience creating engineering drawings
  • 3D printing or prototype experience
  • Internship or Formula SAE, Baja, robotics, or similar engineering project experience
