Job Description:
We are seeking talented engineers to support critical naval engineering projects. This role includes testing, technical, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to enhance the functionality and efficiency of Navy Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC amp;R) systems and equipment onboard US Navy Aircraft Carriers. Engineers will work closely with teams to provide innovative solutions for installation, testing, and maintenance of critical ship systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for correcting and updating the Navy’s ILS to include Allowance Parts List (APL), Navy Technical Manuals, Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRC), and obsolescence for all Navy AC Plant, Modular Refrigeration Units (MRU) and legacy refrigeration systems and associated equipment and components on Navy Aircraft Carriers.
  • Support design, modeling, analysis, and testing of all AC amp;R systems, subsystems, equipment, and components.
  • Develop Ship Change Documents (SCD) and ShipAlts to input technical improvements to existing AC amp;R systems into the Fleet.
  • Provide support for the life cycle of all AC amp;R equipment including design, installation, testing, logistics, technical refresh, and obsolescence.
  • Provide test facility support to build/refresh and test AC amp;R systems and equipment.
  • Perform equipment qualification testing (EQT) by developing, updating, and reviewing test procedures, witnessing tests, and reviewing test reports and waiver/deviation documentation.
  • Execute Pressure tests and System Operational and Verification Tests (SOVT) tests shipboard.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for ship modernization programs to include introducing new technologies and advanced control systems.
  • Conduct Engineering surveys and drawing reviews to determine if system/equipment upgrades are required and feasible.
  • Provide engineering in support of the obsolescence program to include design, testing, and evaluating components for proper form, fit, function, and operation.
  • Review and analyze drawings to support material requirements and test plan/procedure development.
  • Respond to and resolve Integrated Logistics System (ILS) technical feedbacks (TFBR) and technical manual deficiency reports (TMDR) through systems like Remedy and Navy 311.
  • Identify technical issues and develop cost-effective solutions to improve system lifecycle management.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in any mechanical or electrical engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of professional engineering experience working for the Navy or Navy contractor, with a focus on Navy AC amp;R systems (mechanical system design, repair, installation, modification, operation, maintenance, and testing).
Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience working Navy logistics programs to include supporting obsolescence programs.
  • Strong understanding of Navy ship systems, including air conditioning, refrigeration, fluid systems, pumps, heat exchangers, actuators, and other associated equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to support and execute technical testing and develop detailed reports.
  • Team-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • EPA-608 Certification is a plus.
  • The ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is a must.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.
  • Travel of up to 25% may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
