EAD Management Services is looking for an Assistant Mechanical Engineer for projects in industrial and processing facilities. The Assistant Mechanical Engineer supports the design, documentation, and coordination of mechanical engineering projects in industrial and processing facilities. This role builds the technical foundation, field skills, and client-facing experience needed for future licensure while contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare specifications, calculations, equipment and piping layouts, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
  • Develop proficiency in EAD equipment layout, piping design, drafting standards, and construction documentation practices.
  • Specify process and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, conveyors, pneumatic conveying systems, dust collection, and HVAC
  • Develop and design HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for industrial facilities.
  • Participate in field verification, measurement, and documentation activities.
  • Perform technical design reviews with other disciplines to ensure design integrity.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and project protocols.
  • Support business development efforts through data gathering, technical input, and proposal assistance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Commitment to obtain EIT certification within the first 12 months of employment and actively progress toward Professional Engineer licensure.
  • Possess organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors and in-house staff
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets including macros

Preferred Certificates and Skills:
  • Prior mechanical engineering experience from a Co-op or internship preferred
  • HVAC, heat transfer, utility/piping and/or plumbing systems experience preferred

Working Conditions:
  • Office, plant, or client site environment*
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
  • Travel required

*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
