Luhr Bros., INC was founded in 1939 and incorporated in 1948 by brothers Alois and Eugene Luhr. Eugene borrowed money for a Caterpillar D2 tractor, and Alois began working on their first project: digging the basement for the Valmeyer, Illinois high school. Since then, Luhr Crosby has become one of the largest and most well-respected marine contractors in the country, working extensively with the Army Corps of Engineers and private owners as both primary and subcontractors. It remains a family-owned and operated business.

There are several locations for employment at Luhr Crosby. Columbia, Illinois hosts the corporate headquarters while the marine office and Cape River Repair are in Cape Girardeau, MO. Luhr Crosby also operates rock yards in Lafayette and Port Allen, Louisiana under the name Construction Aggregate Supply. Tower Rock Stone is their U.S. Army Corps of Engineers approved quarry and is in Ste Genevieve, Missouri.

Luhr Crosby operates a fleet of towboats, flat deck barges, excavators, hydraulic excavators, cranes, draglines, dozers, and scrapers for stone placement and land-based contracts.
