Data Analyst, Revenue Analytics
Annual Compensation: $75,000 - $78,000 DOE

Overview/Position Summary:
The Data Analyst, Revenue Analytics will support business-case and technical requirements of the Revenue Analytics department by capturing business requirements, developing ad-hoc queries/procedures, and constructing data models to build reports and dashboards. This position will compile data relating to revenue cycle, accounting and finance operations, weekly operational dashboards, cash flow, strategic pricing, and profitability. This position will be capable of translating end-user requirements into a structured, logical data sourcing plan and developing business-friendly reports, analyses, and impact models. This position will work directly with source database queries, schemas, and routine stored procedures across multiple platforms, including patient accounting systems, clinical systems, and data warehouses while utilizing SSMS, T-SQL, MS Excel, Power BI, and MS PowerPoint. Finally, this position will perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with GMR's mission, values, and professional standards.
Essential Duties
  • Extract, aggregate, and organize data from SQL databases that house revenue cycle data from separate front-end billing applications.
  • Routinely evaluate data for accuracy and ensure reporting integrity. Troubleshoot irregular data issues (e.g., Correct non-conforming data relationships or unmapped new data elements).
  • Gather business and technical requirements from revenue cycle leadership and translate requests into functional operational reports and dashboards using Power BI and Excel.
  • Provide analytical support through advanced data compilation and predictive modeling for revenue operations, finance, and accounting.
  • Process EOM reporting package for operational leadership teams.
  • Generate routine and ad-hoc queries/analysis as requested.
  • Create SOPs and process flow diagrams as required.
  • Monitor daily ETL results to ensure source data is loaded in an accurate and timely manner. Troubleshoot and resolve issues, as necessary.
  • Maintain, repair, and optimize SSIS/SSRS packages, SQL stored procedures and all other related processes as assigned.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of data dictionaries, business glossaries, and documentation of data flows/lineage.
  • Utilize Excel Master Data Services (MDS) and other similar tools to correct mapping errors, remedy duplicates, input missing information, and otherwise ensure consistency and completeness of data related to Payors, Bases/Base Codes, Denial Codes, and the like.
  • Travel on occasion to revenue cycle operations center in West Plains, MO to interact with management team.

Qualifications/Additional Skills:
  • Ability to design and implement discussion-ready, Excel-based dashboards.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge and experience with sourcing datasets from SQL and a general understanding of data structures and relational schemas.
  • Basic understanding of Star Schema data model design as it relates to data warehouse and relational database interactions.
  • Microsoft SQL (SSMS) - Adept knowledge in writing basic to complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to retrieve data from relational databases or a data warehouse.
  • Microsoft SQL (SSRS) - Familiarity with MS Visual Studio and knowledge of SSRS package creation, file generation and transmission, and addition of error handlers to assist with troubleshooting.
  • Databricks - Entry level knowledge of the Databricks Platform/Lakehouse and its integration with Microsoft SQL to facilitate data transfer and data warehousing, and data management.
  • AI Tools - Entry level knowledge of appropriate, ethical, and responsible usage of AI Tools such as MS Copilot and the like to solve everyday business problems.
  • Experience in data aggregation, normalization, and data modeling from multiple sources.
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills; strong innovation, problem solving, and conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Ability to solve ambiguous problems and suggest practical ways to solve them.
  • A working knowledge of the healthcare industry, insurance billing and third-party reimbursement is strongly preferred.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Computer Science, Healthcare Management, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a business intelligence (BI) related position. Healthcare revenue cycle experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong experience developing business-friendly decision models that source multiple data sources, formula-based measure creation, and ties aggregations to detailed data.
  • 1-2 years of experience writing T-SQL queries in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Proficient with MS Excel, specifically including creation and dynamic use of Pivot Tables and formulaic metrics to analyze data and produce reports.
  • Entry level knowledge of MS Power BI application and its basic functions.
