Job Description

AECOM is seeking an initiative-taking electrical engineer with an electrical engineering background to be based in the Denver, Colorado office to support mining projects in the planning and design phases.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and designs.
  • Proposes approach to solve problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results and presents alternative solutions to solve the identified discrepancies.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Assist early project design work such as conceptual studies, electrical loads, equipment sizing and selection, datasheets, and general arrangements.
  • Assist in the development of design documents including electrical equipment, material specifications, equipment specifications and vendor data requirements.
  • Assist detailed technical bid analyses for electrical equipment and electrical systems.
  • Assist in the review of vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards as well as project specific requirements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually and in a team environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or ability to acquire a PE.
  • On-site field experience in construction, commissioning and start-ups.
  • MSHA Miner training
  • Experience in processing instrumentation and controls.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems to coordinate with designers to produce construction-level drawings.
  • Strong written and oral communication, quantitative, and people skills
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Initiative-taking on assignments and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Author reports and prepare detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.
