Function and Scope

Management of all aspects of quality assurance and quality control for fixed equipment. To include weld inspection, assembly inspection, and management of materials of construction. Duties will include field inspections of equipment to include internal inspection of tanks and digesters. Travel may be required at times for shop inspections.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all quality assurance and quality control aspects of mechanical repairs
  • Manage tank integrity projects for tanks requiring maintenance according to API 653 regulations
  • Support portions of larger capital projects requiring new tank construction per API 650 and/or significant tank upgrades
  • Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, and Environmental to develop schedule for performing tank work
  • Prepare estimates, budgets, schedules, materials and contract specifications, procurement plans, and work plans for projects, track and report on project progress and performance
  • Plan, schedule, and execute tank integrity projects to meet Company standards and policies
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for assigned projects
  • Prepare the annual sustaining capital budget and major maintenance budget for tank integrity
  • Ensure tank inspection and repairs are documented per regulatory requirements and Company standards and that they are being maintained, organized, and can be accessed for future reference as needed
  • Provide technical support during the review of tank integrity processes and procedures to maintain consistent assessment and repair practices
  • Provide support for field maintenance technicians and operations staff
  • Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety as well as the safety of employees, the public, and company assets
  • Maintaining and enforcing the Approved Manufacturers List for materials
  • Knowledge of corrosion & welding. Welding knowledge of structural and pipe with GTAW, and SMAW processes
  • NDT management, Working knowledge of Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Positive Material Identification, and material hardness testing.
  • Preparing detailed reports describing types of degradation mechanisms, effect of degradation mechanisms, process streams, etc.
  • R-Stamp program management
  • Maintain PCA piping specifications for all piping services throughout the mill.
  • Assure that all projects, contractors, and PCA are adhering to the specifications as noted above.
  • Where fabrication is involved onsite and offsite, review all material specifications, contractors welding and welder qualifications, and determine the required NDE to be performed, to assure that all of the above meet the applicable code and PCA specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

A. Education and Experience

High School education with 2 years maintenance related experience.

  • Pressure Piping Inspection (API 570) n Pressure Relief Systems (API 520/526)
  • Tank Evaluations (API 620/650/653)
  • Risk-Based Inspection (API 580/581)
  • Fitness for Service (API 579)
  • Damage Mechanisms (API 571)
Preferred Certifications
  • API 653 Tank Inspector
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector-CWI
  • Mag Particle and Dye penetrant testing
  • X-Ray film interpretation

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Starting salary range for position: $96,000 - $120,000.
  • Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
