Job Summary

The QA Automation Engineer will partner with a team of developers and system architects to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of PMA's internal and external web applications. The role will design, build, and maintain automated test suites across UI, API, and database layers, and will be expected to write scripts, validate data integrity, and identify defects before they reach production. The position requires experience with test automation frameworks, scripting (Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript), intermediate SQL Server/PostgreSQL database skills, and knowledge of API testing / performance testing, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability and desire to collaborate with other technical resources in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Work with colleagues to develop and maintain automated test suites for PMA's web applications (UI, API, and data layers).
  • Design and write automated test scripts using tools such as Playwright, or similar frameworks, including data-driven test cases.
  • Solicit input from end-users and developers to define test plans, acceptance criteria, and regression coverage for new features.
  • Build reusable test utilities, page objects, and libraries to reduce duplication and improve test maintainability.
  • Validate API responses (REST/GraphQL) for correctness, performance, and error handling, and write scripts to support load/performance testing (e.g., k6).
  • Write and execute SQL queries against SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases to validate data integrity and support root cause analysis.
  • Analyze test results and reports (HTML, Allure, JUnit) to identify trends, flaky tests, and areas of risk.
  • Optimize the speed, reliability, and scalability of automated test suites.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

  • Ability to write Python code and scripts for data validation, reconciliation, or auxiliary tooling.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript for building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
  • Understanding of API testing concepts (REST and/or GraphQL), including request/response validation, authentication, and status/error handling.
  • Familiarity with test reporting and CI-integrated tooling (e.g., Allure, JUnit, HTML reporters) and reading/interpreting results to triage failures.
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, performance/load testing tools (e.g., k6).
  • Comfort with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative branching/PR workflows.
  • Automated testing experience with complex workflows on a UI and data layer is a plus
Education and Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in one or more of the following: Information Systems/Management, Operations Management/Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Systems Analysis or related field (or commensurate professional experience).
