SUMMARY: 

Function: To ensure production of high-quality product exceeding in customer expectations through efficiently utilizing engineering methodologies and procedures based on TOK methods, standard operating procedures, and systems.

Scope: Ability to interface with customers to ensure quality requests are met while using engineering methodologies to plan, execute and accomplish goals in related to product quality in conjunction with performing a variety of tasks related to the manufacturing processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits. The amount of time performing each function may vary day-to-day. All duties shall be performed in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with the company policies and under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor. 

1. Adherence to corporate, State and Federal regulations and guidelines when handling hazardous materials or when exposed to hazardous situations. Must adhere to departmental and corporate standard operating procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

2. Prepare and maintain internal and customer-facing quality documentation aligned with ISO?9001/14001, including reports, qualifications, audits, and process change summaries.

3. Ensure products and processes meet documented procedures and specifications through process audits, SPC reviews, QC checks, and material/intermediate qualification.

4. Lead investigations and structured problem-solving for quality issues, implement and verify corrective actions, and prevent recurrence through follow-up and system improvements.

5. Manage qualification activities for raw materials, intermediates, new products, metrology, and high-volume manufacturing equipment, including generating required technical reports.

6. Drive continuous improvement by maintaining FMEA, establishing QC metrics for new products, leading taskforces, and executing cost, quality, and safety improvement projects using SPC and JMP.

7. Support internal and external stakeholders by conducting ISO-aligned audits, training manufacturing and QA teams, and communicating with customers on quality, investigations, and product qualifications.

8. Use and operate a personal computer, office equipment and other technological devices frequently and consistently throughout each day with a high degree of skill, accuracy, and independent judgment for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data, and other business-related information.

9. Efficiently and quickly analyze, process, manipulate, and accurately record extensive amounts of data (some of which is technical or complex in nature) and other information that serves as the basis for this position. Interpret, distill, and present complicated and/or technical information to employees, customers, and others in understandable and relatable terms to aid and enhance levels of understanding and implementation.

10. Actively demonstrate high levels of employee engagement, coachability (e.g., receiving and incorporating business-related feedback and instruction with a positive and growth-oriented mindset) to achieve desired outcomes, and accountability for personal performance and its impact on others' ability to do their job well.

11. Perform other necessary duties and tasks as requested.

Periodical

Attending annual and/or quarterly refresher courses related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, quality management, and environmental management. 

SUPERVISION: 

Receives: General supervision given by Assistant Manager and above. Completed work is periodically reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and compliance within established guidelines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

B.S. degree with an understanding of chemistry and/or engineering discipline required. 

2 years of QC or QA Engineering experience required or equivalent. QC laboratory testing experience preferred.

REQUIRED PERSONAL SKILLS: 

1. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with highly technical customers and diverse audiences.

2. Knowledge of statistical techniques such as Statistical Process Control for manufacturing process improvement and JMP application for data analysis preferred. 

3. Proven ability to manage projects from start to finish to meet internal and customer expectations. 

4. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

5. Must be comfortable working with chemicals including, but not limited to, corrosives and organic solvents.

6. Ability to speak Japanese is preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

There is a potential for exposure to hazardous conditions and/or materials. This position requires employee to remain alert and observe surrounding areas and conditions to identify, recognize, and respond to potential obstacles, safety concerns, hazards, threats, property conditions requiring attention, unauthorized and/or dangerous persons, and emergencies. Personnel must successfully complete a program of on-site classroom instruction or on-the-job training that teaches them to perform their duties in a way that ensures compliance with all job requirements. Prior experience and/or certification that can be verified will be considered in evaluating training requirements.
