Position: Quality Assurance Technician - Compliance & Calibration
Location: Okmulgee, OK
Full-time
Covington Aircraft is looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Technician. The QA is responsible for supporting the company's quality management system through calibration control, regulatory compliance oversight, audit coordination, and quality system administration within an FAA Part 145 PT6A engine overhaul environment. This position ensures compliance with FAA regulations, ISO/AS quality standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Calibration & Tool Control
• Administer and maintain the company calibration system for precision measuring and test equipment.
• Track calibration due dates and coordinate internal and external calibration activities.
• Ensure measuring tools, gauges, torque devices, test equipment, and inspection instruments remain within calibration status.
• Maintain calibration records, certifications, and traceability documentation.
• Remove expired or nonconforming equipment from service and ensure proper identification and segregation.
• Coordinate with approved calibration vendors and review calibration certificates for compliance.
• Support tooling audits and equipment accountability programs.
Quality System & Regulatory Compliance
• Support compliance with FAA Part 145 regulations, Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), and company procedures.
• Assist with maintenance and continuous improvement of the company quality management system.
• Monitor compliance with ISO/AS quality standards and customer requirements.
• Maintain controlled documents, procedures, forms, and revision records.
• Support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities and root cause investigations.
• Assist with implementation and tracking of quality metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
Internal & External Audits
• Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits of departments, processes, and procedures.
• Coordinate and support FAA, customer, ISO, and third-party audits.
• Prepare audit documentation, reports, findings, and corrective action responses.
• Track audit findings through resolution and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Audit records maintained per requirements and readily available for review.
• Assist departments in preparing for regulatory and customer inspections.
Documentation & Records
• Maintain quality records in accordance with regulatory and company retention requirements.
• Review quality-related documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with control and distribution of technical data and quality procedures.
• Ensure compliance with document revision and change control processes.
Training & Process Support
• Assist with employee training related to quality procedures, calibration requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Promote quality awareness throughout the organization.
• Support process improvement projects related to inspection, documentation, and compliance systems.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in aviation quality assurance, calibration control, or regulatory compliance preferred.
• Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 requirements.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9110/AS9100 quality systems preferred.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic recordkeeping systems.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Effective communication and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in turbine engine overhaul or aerospace maintenance environments.
• Prior experience coordinating FAA or ISO audits.
• Familiarity with PT6A engine overhaul operations.
• Experience with calibration management software and quality tracking systems.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate preferred but not required.
