JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 
The Institutional Research Analyst supports organizational decision making by collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting on institutional data. This entry level position produces reliable datasets, generates routine reports, and supports broader analytical initiatives. The analyst synthesizes information from multiple sources and translates findings into compelling visualizations and reports.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION:  

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Statistics, Psychology, or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: 

Two (2) years of relevant experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal six (6) years. (Experience in higher education, in institutional research preferred.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with data analytic tools and data visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, R, and Python.
  • Knowledge of research methods and statistical techniques.
  • Experience preparing reports and presenting findings to a variety of audiences.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills to communicate with a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of data management. 
  • Extensive experience using MS Office 365 applications.
  • Experience working with a team in a multi-project environment.

WORK SCHEDULE: 

This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional travel.

  1. Analyzes data and prepares reports in response to internal and external requests. 
  2. Designs and delivers polished, visually engaging reports, summaries, dashboards, and visualizations - selecting the most effective charts, tables, and formats to communicate findings clearly to audiences of varying technical backgrounds and decision-making roles. 
  3. Compiles and transforms datasets - including cleaning, restructuring, and validating data - to ensure data is accurate, complete, and analysis-ready. 
  4. Conducts routine and ad hoc audits to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  5. Maintains data dictionaries, procedures, and other reference materials. 
  6. Documents data sources, methodologies, assumptions, and definitions to ensure transparency and repeatability. 
  7. Performs related duties as assigned.
