Job description

Performs entry-level technical and analytical work assisting with installation, monitoring, and diagnostics of network data communications systems, specifically Tier 1 network support. Responsible for assisting with the implementation, operational (troubleshooting and repair) support of simple and complex information communications and network equipment over a wide area network. Refers problems to the proper support areas and provides customer feedback. Work is performed under the supervision of the Manager of Network Services and is evaluated on quality of results obtained, conferences, feedback from customers, and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of one (1) year of experience in the support of network communications systems,
OR
An Associate's Degree or two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours) with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, or closely related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
• Alert Management: Experience setting up event triggers, escalation chains, and visual dashboards for the operations team,
Automation: Experience writing and maintaining simple scripts (e.g., Python) to automate routine device configurations and backups,
Certifications and/or Degrees: CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA or Cisco DevNet Associate, and/or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, MIS, Computer Science, or closely related field,
Monitoring: Experience tracking network availability, bandwidth usage, and performance metrics using management tools,
Network Foundations: Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, routing/switching protocols, DNS, DHCP, and the OSI model,
Scripting and Tools: Introductory experience with Python, REST APIs, or configuration tools,
Systems and Applications: Experience with computer-based access control systems, AutoCAD, and work order/inventory/financial systems, and
Zabbix: Knowledge of open-source monitoring concepts, agent setup, and basic configuration.
