Job description

A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As an Intern in the Automation Engineering Team, you will work amongst a cross-functional team to develop end effectors and actuators for use in precision automated processes. You will use mechanical CAD and 3D printing to rapidly iterate. Your role will be hands on, assembling and testing your designs and reporting your results. In this role, you will report to the Director of Automation Engineering.
You Will Make an Impact By:
  • Developing and implement designs for robotic end effectors
  • Working and testing robotic actuators and processes.
  • Assisting with optics mounting process development.
  • Documentation and reporting of results
  • Rapidly iterating using 3D printing
  • Travel Requirements: No travel required

Skills You Bring:
  • Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in relevant field.
  • Entry level knowledge of SolidWorks and 3D printing.
  • Understanding of mechanics, stresses and ability to design basic actuators.
  • Basic programming knowledge. Python programming preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with optics and delicate components.

Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Pay Range: $27.00 to $31.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Benefits: MKS offers a benefits package for interns/co-ops working at least 20 hours per week, including 11 paid holidays, sick time, and 15 paid vacation days accrued on a biweekly basis.
