Summary ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: Deschutes County Health Services supports over 400 staff in Behavioral and Public Health programs working to promote and protect the health and safety of the community in a broad variety of community-based settings. This position is part of Administrative Services, which ensures DCHS has the facilities, resources, and support necessary to provide the highest quality of service to clients, customers, and the community through planning, consultation, implementation, analysis, and review. ABOUT THE JOB: This position works under general supervision in our Public and Behavioral Health Department front offices by providing administrative support to all of our programs. The Administrative Support Technician is the entry level in the administrative support job series, and responsibilities are generally of a limited to medium scope and typically require applying judgment, discretion, and initiative completing administrative support and customer service work assignments with intermediate computer and interpersonal skills. The incumbent will work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment that includes frequent contact with clients who access our services in person, virtually through the computer, and on the phone.

Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. The candidate selected for this position will be flexible in terms of their days and hours worked. The position is primarily based out of our Health Services Building location on Courtney Drive in Bend, but can expect to work at any of our clinics in La Pine, Redmond, or Bend, as dictated by business needs.

Key Responsibilities: Maintain high level of customer service and confidentiality while responding to requests for information and assistance from clients, visitors, and county employees in person, by phone, and by e-mail. Review documents with attention to detail for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with requirements. Enter data into computer software with speed and accuracy to maintain electronic records, files, and databases.

Utilize Epic, an Electronic Health Records System, to enter and verify demographic information, check in clients, schedule and cancel appointments, and review charts for pertinent information necessary to best serve clients. Understand and follow policies and procedures within the scope of authority. What You Will Bring: Knowledge of or experience with: Techniques in dealing with the public in a culturally sensitive way, maintaining the dignity and well-being of the public.

General office procedures and the use of modern office equipment and software including spreadsheets, databases, and electronic mail. HIPAA regulations and procedures. Skill in: Communicating collegially, in a professional and effective manner.

Prioritizing, organizing, and carrying out assignments under basic supervision in a timely and professional manner, both independently as well as in a team setting. Understanding and explaining rules, regulations, codes, laws, and ordinances. Understanding a variety of technical instructions and program requirements.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of administrative support experience; OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with EHR software, specifically the EPIC/OCHIN platform. Experience working in a healthcare setting.

Bilingual in English and Spanish communication. Necessary Special Requirements Driving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date.

This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended. Must have dependable transportation and be able and willing to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.
