Job description

Job Title: Tools and Automation Engineer

Location : Warren MI

Duration : 6 to 12 Months

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Network and Systems Administrator focusing on the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our in house Network Engineering Monitoring and Management information platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining our core enterprise tool infrastructure including both physical and virtual servers whether on premise or cloud deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain management platform hardware and software.
OS Administration: Manage and administer enterprise operating systems such as Windows Server and Linux distributions, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user access management.
Network and Server Monitoring: Utilize enterprise monitoring and management tools to proactively track network performance, server health, and bandwidth usage, resolving bottlenecks before they impact the business.
Troubleshooting and Support: Act as the escalation point for complex network and server related issues, performing root cause analysis in support of Network Engineering.
Maintenance and Security: Execute routine patch management, firmware updates, and system backups. Ensure network security protocols and firewalls are strictly maintained.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for network topology, server configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Networking Expertise: Strong understanding of network communications protocols such as TCP IP, DNS, NTP, SMTP and experience in networking and its operations.
Server and OS Proficiency: Deep hands on experience managing operating systems such as Windows Server, Ubuntu, or Red Hat and virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper V.
Monitoring Tools: Proven experience using network monitoring platforms such as NNMi, HPNA, Zabbix, or Datadog to analyze system health and knowledge of IT management platforms such as Cisco Catalyst Center, BlueCat LiveNX, and Cisco ThousandEyes.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network or Server, or Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automating routine tasks.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and associated tools including GitHub and Terraform.
