OVERVIEW: Pratt Miller is looking for a qualified candidate for Quality Technician I to perform inspections, reverse engineering, and other metrology operations in support of programs from prototype through low-volume production in an ISO 9001 certified engineering and manufacturing environment. The Quality Technician will work with the manufacturing and engineering teams to provide the data needed to support their job functions and the ability to learn essential functions or skills with guidance from colleagues. Candidates with the right skills and attitude may receive on-the-job training to support their success in the role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Dimensional inspection of parts to engineering drawings and/or CAD models
  • Create, compile and maintain inspection records and other required documentation
  • Examine incoming parts and documentation to confirm correct specifications are met
  • Part numbering and traceability
  • Non-destructive testing of parts (Magnaflux and Zyglo)
  • Communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and written
  • Proficient with Windows based computers and MS software such as Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Able to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 0-3 years of work experience in manufacturing or other relevant experience
  • Experienced with basic hand measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and height gauges.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read basic blueprints
  • Basic understanding of metrology best practices and gage handling

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires occasional moderate physical activity
  • Moving and maneuvering heavy objects may be required at times

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • 7:30 AM start time, Monday-Friday
  • 40-hour standard work week with overtime paid as worked when required
  • Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate fixed deadlines, sometimes working longer hours, Saturdays, and/or Sundays

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Combination of quality lab and manufacturing areas
  • Periodic travel may be required between local facilities
  • Stress may occur periodically
