You will see it in our attention to quality and performance, and in the groundbreaking designs and technologies that create an unparalleled driving experience for our customers.  Electronic controls are critical to the operation of modern vehicle propulsion systems.  These controls – made up of computer modules, sensors, actuators and software – are tasked to monitor and control vehicle operation to meet safety and emissions requirements while delivering the expected vehicle performance.  Keeping these objectives in mind, Stellantis is looking for qualified Safety, Aftersales & On-Board diagnostic requirements engineers

Stellantis is seeking a Propulsion Systems Safety & Diagnostics Engineer to support the development of safety, on-board diagnostics (OBD), and aftersales requirements for advanced propulsion systems. 

In this role, you will help ensure propulsion control systems are safe, compliant with global regulations, diagnosable, and serviceable across the full vehicle lifecycle. 

You will work across cross-functional engineering teams to enable robust system design, regulatory compliance, and efficient aftersales support. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support development of safety, OBD, and diagnostic requirements 
  • Assist in diagnostic definition including DTCs, parameters, and test procedures 
  • Support functional safety activities in alignment with ISO 26262 
  • Participate in validation and testing activities 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across software, controls, and integration 

Deliverables 

  • Safety concepts and requirements (TSC) 
  • Diagnostic strategies and DTC definitions 
  • Technical policies and diagnostic specifications 
  • Safety analyses (FTA, FMEA, FMEDA) 
  • Validation plans and compliance documentation 
  • Aftersales and serviceability documentation 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field 
  • Experience in automotive systems, propulsion or embedded control systems preferred 
  • Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262), diagnostics, and OBD regulations (CARB CCR 1968.2, Euro 7) 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced engineering degree 
  • Experience in powertrain systems (ICE, hybrid, electrified) 
  • Experience with diagnostic development, calibration tools, or validation (HiL) 
  • Familiarity with Agile, ASPICE, or AUTOSAR 
  • Experience working with suppliers and global regulatory processes
