Job Description
This is an entry level position into the area of project management. The Project Manager I (PM I) is accountable for coordinating and managing clients' projects through all phases of laboratory operations, including project set-up and maintenance, login review, communication of analytical issues, client account maintenance, reporting, invoicing, bottle orders, client pickups, and identification of work share facilities. The PM I role fosters and develops client relationships in support of the laboratory mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Set-up:
  • Review and set up project in LIMS (laboratory information management system)
  • Add notes, review documentation, manage orders and contracts
  • Communicate project details to Operations
  • Initiates project kick off with client and applicable staff
  • Works with Operations to ensure the lab has capacity for the work
  • Create bottle orders and schedule couriers/field samplers
  • Ensures regulations and requirements are met, initiates approval process, generates accounting software requisition

Sample Receipt:
  • Manages incoming work
  • Reviews and resolves any sample log-in issues, sends client sample receipt confirmation
  • Informs client of any log-in discrepancies
  • Reporting:
  • Review job list daily and manage due dates
  • Communicate any expected delays to client
  • Review reports, confirms the information is correct, issues final report to client by due date
  • Data upload, completes and submits state reporting forms
  • Compiles case narratives

Invoicing:
  • Set up delivery route
  • Review final invoice before sending to client
  • Generates credit/debit memos, submits them for approval
  • Submits revised invoices
  • Initiates follow up calls to confirm correct invoicing
  • Work with collections on Accounts Receivable

Client Set-up:
  • Request new client review
  • Communicate lab capabilities to client, confirm sales assignments with Business Development Manager
  • Take new quote requests from clients, review contract requirements, review purchase orders
  • Submit purchase orders for approval

Account Maintenance:
  • Follow up calls and visits with clients
  • Provide technical support
  • Forward leads and opportunities to the sales team
  • Forecast upcoming work
  • Submit client complaints and participates in corrective action
  • Communicate issues/complaints to sales and follow up with clients

Quotes and Proposals:
  • Initiate project reviews with Operations, QA and subcontract labs
  • Quote generation and approvals
  • Confirm client contracts and pricing, confirm lab meets certification requirements
  • Create quotes, submit them for approval, send to clients
  • Update status in Laboratory Information Management System

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ):
Education/Experience (BMQ):
Education: BS/BA in Chemistry/Sciences or related field (four years related experience may substitute for a degree
Experience:
6 months of client-relationship/customer service experience
Prefer some bench chemist or field experience
Requires additional lab training in methods and QA across multiple departments

Provides prompt, efficient and personalized assistance to meet the requirements, requests, and concerns of customers; provides thorough, accurate information to answer customers' questions and inform them of commitment times or performance guarantees; actively looks for ways to help customers by identifying and proposing appropriate solutions and/or services; establishes boundaries as appropriate for unreasonable customer demands.
  • Is pleasant, courteous and professional when dealing with internal or external customers; displays a good-natured, cooperative attitude; is calm and empathetic when dealing with hostile customers.

Requirements:

Position is full-time Monday - Friday dayshift with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Knoxville, TN are encouraged to apply.
Salary starting at $62,000/yr.
Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
