Job description

An electrical contracting and engineering firm is looking for an entry-level Project Controls Specialist to join its production engineering team. This role supports commercial, industrial, and technology construction projects from initial setup through closeout, working closely with project managers to track costs, monitor schedules, and report on project health. The position offers hands-on mentorship from senior staff and regular exposure to project managers and department leadership.Responsibilities
  • Support project setup, including work breakdown structures, cost development, and change order tracking
  • Track project costs, research discrepancies, and forecast future labor and material expenses
  • Prepare weekly and periodic reports summarizing project status for project managers
  • Calculate earned value and percent complete, and recommend corrective actions where needed
  • Assist in developing project budgets, including reconciling actuals against established estimates
  • Contribute to scheduling, issue resolution, change management, and billing cycle activities
  • Build working relationships with project managers, peers, and other departments to support day-to-day project execution
  • Participate in regular team meetings and periodic project health reviews
Minimum Qualifications
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
  • Experience with Google Sheets and file version control practices
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity software
