Description:

The Field Service Technician (FST) 1 follows the direction of senior Field Service Technicians and Field Service Engineers to support the installation and maintenance of surveillance sensors, associated command and control software, and interfaces to provide installation, operational, and maintenance support to external customers. Responsibilities focus on execution of defined field service tasks in accordance with engineering plans, procedures, and guidance. This individual reports to the Field Service Lead. CONUS and OCONUS travel is required up to 60%.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Service Execution

· Perform on-site installation, configuration, and maintenance of company-provided security and surveillance systems in accordance with engineering drawings, procedures, and Field Service Engineer direction.

· Execute assigned field service tasks related to cameras, radar systems, networking equipment, power systems, and supporting IT infrastructure.

· Perform server rack population, equipment mounting, structured cabling, labeling, and physical system assembly following established procedures.

Operational Support

· Support scheduled field service activities both CONUS and OCONUS, including equipment installation, system validation, and routine maintenance.

· Identify system irregularities or installation issues and escalate findings to Field Service Engineers for diagnosis and resolution.

· Assist with corrective actions for known issues under guidance from Field Service Engineers or senior technicians.

Technical Assistance

· Safely use hand tools, test equipment, and basic diagnostic tools following training and established procedures.

· Follow wiring diagrams, checklists, and installation documentation to ensure systems are assembled and installed correctly.

· Support remote or telephonic technical assistance activities as directed.

Documentation & Reporting

· Complete required field service documentation, checklists, and installation records accurately and in a timely manner.

· Provide clear written and verbal status updates to Field Service Engineers and project leadership as required.

Training & Development

· Participate in formal training, on-the-job instruction, and mentorship to build proficiency in assigned tools, equipment, and systems within 6–12 months.

· Maintain required certifications, safety training, and operational qualifications associated with the role.

Minimum Requirements

· Ability to follow established procedures, identify deviations, and escalate issues appropriately.

· Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and written procedures.

· Ability to learn and safely use hand tools, test equipment, and company-provided systems within 6–12 months of hire.

· Ability to safely use hand tools, test equipment, and company-provided systems in accordance with training and established procedures.

· Ability to follow established processes, checklists, and safety requirements in field environments.

· Ability to identify deviations from expected system behavior and escalate issues appropriately.

· Strong team player with the ability to establish solid working relationships with technical staff and peers, as well as with external government customers and host nation end users.

· Effective verbal communication skills for coordination with Field Service Engineers, project leadership, and site personnel.

· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage assigned tasks in dynamic field environments.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

· Must be comfortable working at height and willing to become a certified authorized climber/rescuer.

· Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport for domestic and international travel.

· Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

· Prior exposure to technical, mechanical, electrical, IT, or field-based work environments (including military, vocational, internship, or entry-level technical roles).

· Basic familiarity with electronic systems, cabling, or structured wiring concepts.

· Basic computer literacy, including experience using standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and operating systems such as Windows or Linux.

· Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, basic test equipment, or maintenance tools through coursework, training, or prior experience.

· Previous experience working in environments requiring adherence to safety procedures, technical instructions, or standardized processes.

· Interest in developing technical skills related to surveillance systems, networking, electronics, or field service operations.


WORK EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

· High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

· No prior field service experience is required for entry into this role.
